The Time Has Finally Come...

About 8 months we excitedly bought tickets to a gig and it seemed like the day would never come, now it has arrived....CHIC.Tripod.Tomorrow! BANG! After their performance at Electric Picnic '09 to a jam-packed tent this was a ticket that everyone (everyone we knew anyway!) wanted to get. Friday is sold out but apparently there are a few tickets left for Saturday - my advice, GET A TICKET!

An Incredibly Sound Cloud

So it's absolutely no surprise whatsoever that Greg Wilsons Soundcloud account is full of little and massively large gems...but listening to the mixes on it again yesterday I felt the need to say how savage it really is, ranging from his newest addition Bestival Blogcast, to the below set from Tokyo in February you just wouldn't get bored of listening! AND if you haven't listened to them yet check out his 3 'Random Influences' mixes too!

Christopher Cross - Ride Like The Wind

The highlight of my Paddy's Day was when Aaron played this outside in the Bernard Shaw smoking area. Sure didn't we all lap it up! A yacht rock classic, I had it in my record bag too but Aaron beat me to it!

The Right Way To Do Paddy's Day

What a day! Starting off with Eoin Cody easing us into what would no doubt be a manic day (if last years Paddy's Day 12 was anything to go by!) and with the likes of Handsome Paddy and Aaron Dempsey killing it outside while Louis Scully and Crego were playing a blinder inside the day and night was a mad success. The queue wound around the road and the bar was drank dry, hands were in the air and there were bodies everywhere....if you weren't there, well, you can only wait in vain for 17th of March 2011.
Here's a taste of what you either missed, enjoyed or don't remember...

Paddys Day - Here we go again

It's that time of the year again, the day that drives everybody to booze and all things green. Here at 12 sundays it's the second Paddys day party this coming Wednesday, with Barry Redsetta, Handsome Paddy and Jaycee among others joining the trusty 12 residents.

On the day we will be making the most of the outside smoking area, which will be transformed into the musical hub of the daytime. Anyone who was down last year will know of the special atmosphere which will no doubt be on show again on Wednesday.

In advance of the day here's the 2 Conors back to back set from last year:

Conor L & Conor Dunne live at 12, 17th March 2009, part 1
Conor L & Conor Dunne live at 12, 17th March 2009, part 2
Conor L & Conor Dunne live at 12, 17th March 2009, part 3

Here's a little vid to whet the appetite, Aaron Dempsey getting the buzz going early on last year:

Chantal Curtis - Get Another Love x 3

Here are 3 versions of 'Get Another Love' by Chantal Curtis. The original, an edit and a housed up version - all ripped from vinyl. 'Get Another Love' was a big Paradise Garage tune along with 'Hit Man', both of which did equally well in the black underground clubs of London in the late 70s / early 80s. These seem to be her only solo releases before her untimely death in 1985, when she was sadly murdered by her boyfriend (according to her producer Pierre Jaubert).

DJ Jacq - Loop Jack

These records are all cheaply available on discogs, if you're the record buying type.

Harry Thumann Edit

Harry Thumann is known mostly for his Italo anthem 'Underwater' which came out in 1979 on his debut LP 'American Express'. 'Give A Little Help' is taken from the same album, and is 8 and a half minutes of alternating killer & filler. So for this edit I cut out the latter & extended the former.

His album Andromeda is also highly regarded among synth nerds, with the song 'Sphinx' being the most popular cut.
