Sunday Clubbing: NYC

Great Sunday clubs are ten a penny compared to their Friday/Saturday counterparts. Being the preserve of shift workers and folks who don't have to worry about an early Monday morning start.

One of the stand out Sunday parties of 2009 was Sunday Best, based in Brooklyn Yard, New York. Resident DJs Justin Carter, Doug Singer and Irishman Eamonn Harkin were joined each week of the summer by guests Morgan Geist, Mr. Scruff, Kyle Hall and Quentin Harris, with fellow 12 favourites Theo Parrish, MCDE and Daniel Wang also on show.

Sunday Best is mostly a summertime club, making the most of the outdoor surroundings of Brooklyn Yard and the New York summer evenings, with proceedings finishing at a meager 10pm.

Check out Sunday Best blog here, it's accompanied with videos and mixes with the MCDE mix and Theo video in particular worth a look.

As Deep As It Gets

Mateo & Matos is a team of two deejays and house music producers, John ''Roc'' Mateo and Eddie ''E-Z'' Matos, both f
rom from New York City. John Mateo started by broadcasting sets over his CB Radio in 1985. It was through this self-produced show that Eddie Matos first made contact with John Mateo. They became friends and shortly afterward became professional partners. They have been inspired by listening to Larry Levan, Tony Humphries, Shep Pettibone and Little Louis Vega.

Here's one that was released back in 2002 on Chicago's Large Records:

Now that's what I call a party!

OK... I know most of you have seen this before, but here it is again. This is the Body & Soul 10th year anniversary which was held in PS1 in the summer of 2006.

PS1 is a state of the art exhibition centre which is located in the borough of Long Island in New York City, and apart from showcasing the arts it throws some pretty good shindigs.

Check it!
